Sound Mixing..

For this Unit i was asked to create a music clip that was edited in Audacity. I were told to edit the soundtrack and use fade in fade out which allowed me create something different and make it sound original instead of it sounding like a normal music track.
I used a track called show me love by steve angelo. This sound track was an extended sound track. I imported an .mp3 sound track into audacity from my track listing. Then what i did was i used a cut n drag tool, where it allowed me to cut bits from the soundtrack. Due to the sound track being very long i took all the base and beats out and used fade in in the begging. I then cut the middle part of the song off and a bit of the end and used fade out. I achieved a PASS for this. in order to get a higher grade i was told to create few more sound tracks but use more that 1 or even 2 soundtracks and use cross over fade. This will allow me to gain more experince and also a higher grade..

2nd June 2009 Development

Yesterday on the 2nd of june i started working on the CD-ROM to improve and get a better grade..

This is the feed back i got from Mark Tower
"CD-ROM Product:
-Excellent piece of work, professional design and clear navigation.
Points to consider to gain a higher grade:
-Video splash page is quite plain, compared to the rest of your designs - consider improving the design.
-Additional audio content could be included, e.g. button sounds, additional background music etc.
-The videos files don't appear in the video section (I have seen this working, but would be nice to fix it).
-Additional transitions / animations could be included throughout.
-Consider adding additional technical qualities, speak to me in person or email me about this one."

I started on re-designing the pages that i wasn't very happy about and also the pages that mark suggested needed o bit of work. I created a page that had smoke effect and also had a sense of difference just so it would fit in with the idea and vision that had. After creating this i then realized that everything that i had laid out on screen had to be tweaked and moved just so it would fit around the design.

After doing this i when on to the next point, which was sort the video page out because the videos weren't appearing up when rolling over the animation. I sorted this problem out by re-directing the browser. Basically this is when uploading the .flv files on component inspector. The problem that i had was that when the computer was searching for the video files i directed it through a long stream of folders and files, which then the computer lost info when opening it up next time. The way i sorted this problem out was by just writing the file name as it was with flv at the end.
As such as: Sonic Snow.flv
This specifically tells the computer that it wants this file to appear, instead of it looking through many folders and many apps.
After sorting this problem out what i had to do was re size the video and place it where it will be suitable for the design. Another thing that i did and also got help in was one of the videos didn't look wide screen, which made the video look squashed and out of proportion, unlike the others. So what Mark did was he put it in movie maker and made the video from boxed out to wide screen.

What i did then was i used video encoder to change the file format and inserted in. I then changed the size of the video and made it fit on to the design.

Finally there was one minor blip that i had to sort out which was the music, what happened was that when i created my CD-ROM i had separated files for every page. Due to this it interrupted my music file, when clicking next. the way i had to sort this out was asking Mark for advice in how i could make the music go though out the whole video.

Mark came up with the idea of changing all the buttons from "0" to "1", which allowed the pages to overlap on each other, however after trying several times i realized that it wasn't possible.

When Mark had another look he then decided we insert a blank .fla file, which is a blank page to start before the enter page. This allowed the enter page to lay on top and allow the music to play. this worked brilliantly.

After this success i started changing the number of the buttons from "0" to "1", which actually worked. However just when i thought it was working perfectly, i realized that after clicking on one of the characters. i showed it to my tutor and he found that one fo the buttons werent on 1 so after changing that everything was working the way it was supposed to.

Sonic Testing...

While testing my final project i found out that there were few problems that occurred when opening the .swf files. The Enter Page wasn't allowing me to click onto the enter button in order for me to go next. After i fixed the problem, then what happened was that the 2nd page wasn't opening up.
All i did to sort these pages out was that i re-named and re-put on the action script. after saving and testing both files were working the way they were suppose to.
I also had few glitches with the games page. What happened was that after linking the games to the page, when clicking the actual .swf file wasn't appearing the way it was suppose to. basically what happened was that the external link was dead. I fiddled with the setting of the external link from attaching it through web, "self" to "blank" which helped the page link. However it seems to be that some of the computers don't recognise where the game was so it just opened a blank page.
On the other hand when Mark Towers was looking through these documents on flash he realized that the games were working on his computer. Which meant that it was either my computer or there was something missing in my computer that Marks computer already had.
What i also realized was that after i inserted the video encoded files opening it on another computer or even a different day it didn't seem to recognize the file. This problem wasn't major however it completely stopped me from using the roll-overs and also activating the video.
To solve this little problem what i have to do is re-enter the video into the flash file and re size it the way it was before. Due to this problem i will have to do this every time i use a computer. What i could do to improve this is by sticking to the original idea by importing videos the normal way and then creating buttons to control these videos. It would be less of a hassle.
After solving all these problem i realized that my CD-ROM was in need of animation, so what i then did was i added motion tween which allowed my animation to fade in in the way i wanted it to. I added animation to every single page, however after putting the final project onto a CD i realized that some of the animation wasn't working and that the music track that i inserted was only working on the first page (Enter Page). To fix this problem i will have to somehow find a way to solve this so that the music is playing all the way through out and re-due the animation on the pages that dint work.

Video Encoder....

Yesterday i learnt how to embed a video by converting a video from .wmv to a .fla file.. I used a programme that allowed me to do this. this specific programme is called Adobe CS3 video encoder.
This allowed me to post the video on to my page and then create existing buttons, without all the mess of creating separate buttons. i did this for all my videos. I also changed all the roll-outs so when rolling over the picture and moving the mouse away from it, the video will still appear

Adobe Flash & Photoshop..

The screen resoultion for both Flash & Photshop has been and will be 1280 x 1024

16th May 2009 - Sonic GamePlay.. (Video)

For my units i was asked to produce a video which enabled me to learn a new software. This software is called "Windows Movie Maker", with this software's i uploaded videos which i downloaded of the Internet and imported it into movie maker.
I downloaded these videos of www.youtube.co.uk. I got few game plays which allowed me to make my own movie with previous clips instead of having movie clips mixing up.
I presented 2 games of Sonic The Hedgehog and added effects when the files where imported into the software. I learnt how to crop a file to many clips where i was allowed to choose which part i wanted to keep and also which part i didn't necessarily need.
After Adding all the effects onto the sliced video clips, i added transition effect, this allows the separate videos to come in with an effect, so after the title the next clip will have the effect of a fade in, which then after playing you will see the effect happen.
Finally when i finished the movie project i clicked on a button on the left hand side saying finish movie, which then allowed me to choose where to save the file, whether on my computer, CD, web or camera. I saved it on my Computer first named it, and after i finsihed i transferred the finished .fla file into my usb and then into my project as well as handing it to Mark Towers.

16th May 2009...

Today i have linked all the videos to Flash.
I learned how to use rollover buttons and enhanced it into my work.

The action script for this is:

  • Global Functions
  • Browser/Network
  • Duble Click - LoadMovie

Then:
  • on (rollOver) {
loadMovieNum("Character Page.swf", 1);
}
  • on (rollOut) {
unloadMovieNum(1);
}

This Allows you to Roll your mouse over the pictures to play the video, as soon as you roll over the video the video stops. As you cans ee there is "1" at the end of the actions script which allows the video to come on top of the page instead of it opening as a new page.
